If you find yourself scheduling depositions in Poland, you may want to extend your stay an extra couple of days to take advantage of the opportunity to delve into your surroundings and explore the culture and history.
Poland offers fascinating sites and a beautiful landscape — perfect for outdoor exercise. The Tatra Mountains feature year-round snow-capped peaks, quiet valleys and peaceful ponds, and offer breathtaking trails for hiking and skiing. If you love architecture, Poland’s several cathedrals and castles will certainly not disappoint. Niedzica Castle, located in southern Poland along the Dunajec River, is rumored to be haunted. You will also want to try the Polish cuisine, a mixture of Eastern European and German traditions. Don’t limit yourself to pierogi! Barszcz czerwony (red borscht) is delicious (and very pretty), especially with sour cream!
Poland does not require a visa for stays of fewer than 90 days. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 90 days beyond your date of departure from the Schengen area. Poland is a party to The Hague Evidence Convention, but does not impose any special requirements nor restrictions when it comes to taking depositions. Depositions by videoconference are possible, so you could cut costs by having the reporter in the U.S. with the attorneys. However, if an interpreter is needed, it is recommended that the reporter be with the witness. Realtime can be streamed to remote participants.
Should you travel to Poland to take your depositions, ask the reporter or videographer for suggestions to see the nearest and best attractions, as well as the optimal times to do so. They can also recommend the best places to eat and shop. The team will assist with printing any exhibits for the depositions as well as coordinating with the hotel or business center regarding your conference room. The Poles are a very warm and hospitable people, who will spare no effort to make sure your stay in Poland is a pleasant one.
